That seems like such a vast greeting, to welcome the entire world into the privacy of my inner thoughts and feelings. However, it can be interpreted on a much smaller scale. I’m the type of person who has always had very few friends in my life, but the circle I do have consists of “lifers”– those who have been through the thick of life with me and I know will always continue to do so, no matter what, no matter when. So in such circumstances, “Dear World,” refers to the close-knit group of individuals that I have selectively pulled into my personal circle over the past 38 years of my existence. In some instances, “Dear World” refers to the world of educators that experience life in the classroom like I do on a daily basis nine months out of the year. Sometimes “Dear World” claims the lot of people who’ve experienced the thoughts, emotions, and experiences I may describe in a certain post. Big or small, everyone of us exists within in multiple worlds. I am part of the education realm, the yoga community, the world of divorcees. I’m a daughter, a sister, an aunt. A mentor, a griever, a learner. The list could continue on and on and on. It’s our experiences that unite us with different people, and so to allude to my greeting, “Dear World,” I mean whoever can draw some ounce of inspiration, connection, or humanity from my writing. Here’s to the people in my worlds, big and small. I love you all, and thank you for listening to the thoughts on my heart.
Sincerely,
Britt
I LOVE THIS! My world exits because you’re in it & you continue to make my world a great place to be! My world exits because you’re the one who made me a mother for the first time. Regardless, of the world’s events, big or small, our world is better knowing we have a daughter w/ the kindest, biggest, bravest heart ever! Can’t wait to see where in the world this blog takes you. 🙂
