Carefree

Dear World,

My niece’s hair is tangled and frizzy. When she goes out in public, she won’t let my sister comb it. I guess it might be surprising to some people, the way her hair looks, because she’s so beautiful–just about the prettiest little girl you’ve ever seen–but it suits her just fine. I love the way her knotted curls fall over her face when she closes her eyes–her blue eyes that sparkle like ocean swells on a perfect summer day, blue and flawless. The way her hair hangs its own way as she twirls to the beat of her own drum, lost in her own moment. In her princess dress, plastic crown haphazardly placed on her head, those blond tangles are not what people notice.

Sincerely,
Britt
